Bio-based and biodegradable controlled-release delivery systems for agricultural inputs
BioCordelia develops innovative lignocellulose-based alternatives to conventional polymer coatings used in controlled-release fertilisers.
About the project
Why BioCordelia?
Controlled-release fertilisers can improve nutrient use efficiency and reduce nutrient losses. However, most commercial CRFs rely on non-biodegradable polymer coatings that contribute to microplastics pollution in soils. BioCordelia develops bio-based, biodegradable alternatives using underutilised agricultural and forest side streams.
